This result was explained by using a phenomenological model based on the assumption that h max is determined by a balance between the total buoyancy flux de-livered by the source (-BoRs 2)and the buoyancy flux removed laterally (“• N3h3Rs) from the convective region by eddies that develop at the rim of the convecting region due to baroclinic instabilities.
