About Kathryn Shroyer Kathryn Shroyer grew up in San Antonio, Texas and her interest in math and physics brought her here to Cambridge for undergraduate studies at MIT. Kathryn is currently the engineering educator at MIT Sea Grant and will be teaching the E2 Underwater Robotics course this summer. At Sea Grant, Kathryn leads the ocean engineering education initiative. This includes creating and running a variety of programs that focus on helping middle school and high school students engage in engineering through the design, creation, and field testing of underwater vehicles. Kathryn has a strong interest studying how people learn and helping build more effective learning environments for young students interested in creative problem solving. Prior to joining Sea Grant, Kathryn worked as an instructor in the MIT Women’s Technology Program. Outside of work, Kathryn is a musician and active member of the MIT Music Theatre Guild and Ceramics Studio. Kathryn received a B.S. in mechanical engineering and a B.S. in music from MIT in 2009. About the Brown Bag Lunch Series MIT Sea Grant staff and students present projects, programs, research, and other topics in an informal setting to inform and inspire MIT colleagues and the wider community. The Brown Bag Lunch Series is a monthly event, and open to the public.
